It is knitted using Rowan’s new yarn Tumble which, as the Rowan website describes, ‘is a glorious lightweight, soft and lofty yarn comprising of 90% Alpaca and 10% Cotton and is the ideal yarn for those snugly soft Autumn Winter garments and accessories’. So I really want to get hold of some….my only problem will be getting a look at the colors as the shops in Colorado don’t stock all the different Rowan yarns….just a few. I know Mew Mew’s Yarn Shop in Lafayette, Colorado stock some Rowan yarns…I wonder if they will get in Tumble? I do like the Marshmallow color shown here but I also like Indigo, which is a dark blue and also Cherry which is a great red color. The pattern looks like it will be easy to lengthen as I have quite a long body but I am always changing patterns….I never can just knit them up as they are……I suppose most knitters do that.
I have knitted with Alpaca before and it is so light and soft to wear; not itchy or scratchy at all, even next to your skin. I designed this purple roll neck sweater here on the right. It is knitted in Alpaca and it is very light and warm but not too warm. I designed it because I wanted a fitted sweater and couldn’t find a suitable pattern so the easiest thing to do was to design it myself around my body. The all over ribbing gives it that lovely fitted look without being too tight and I added the cable down the front just to break up the ribbing a bit. It is my favorite winter woollie!
I like your blog.
Good post. I am a normal visitor of your web site and appreciate you taking the time to maintain the nice site. I will be a regular visitor for a long time.
Your purple sweater looks great! I was thinking about making something similar but longer, maybe a bit longer to wear with leggings. Do you think that would work in Alpaca yarn?
Yes, definitely. Long sweaters and sweater dresses are so on trend at the moment……..I might make one for myself!
Love the ‘Topple’ cardigan..it looks so cosy!
