Yes, I think I am hooked on crochet if this year is anything to go by….I’ve done so much crochet I think I may have forgotten how to knit! Yesterday Rowan released the first pattern for their latest project: Lisa Richardson’s Crochet Along 2017 and I am taking part. This CAL will take place over the course of 15 weeks with a new pattern released every ten days giving you time to crochet along with people who are also taking part all over the world. At the end you will have made this colourful Felted Tweed Blanket…….
I have completed two squares of this first pattern, the Double Bobble Granny Square……
……..just another six to do, all using Rowan Felted Tweed. This square was quite easy to crochet; once you’ve done the first two or three rounds you get into the rhythm of the pattern and don’t even have to look at the instructions any more. If you are a beginner or are a little rusty with your crochet skills and need some help Rowan have many video tutorials on YouTube……for link, see below. Do not be afraid if you are a beginner. This CAL is a great opportunity to learn how to crochet and all the patterns are free!
Luckily, the release of Rowan’s latest CAL comes just as I finished a crochet baby blanket for a colleague. I love the shades she chose from Rowan’s Summerlite 4ply: white, blushes, buttermilk and still grey……..
You may remember that this design was originally from Rowan’s first Crochet Along during 2015. I have now crocheted this pattern three times making a shawl…….
and two baby blankets. Here’s the first baby blanket I made………
With this first CAL pattern there is also an option to crochet the motifs together to make a hexagonal cushion……maybe I’ll do this next time? If you want to read some of my past posts about this first CAL click on the links below:
