Autumn finally turned up this morning – it felt cold for the first time down here near the south coast of England. So, thinking of wearing something a little warmer, I thought I would take a look through the Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine 72 and share my top picks with you.
This season’s Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine is split into two pattern themes – Kidsilk Haze Celebration and Texture in Nature. Besides the patterns there are a couple of fascinating stories about Kidsilk Haze – Beyond the Halo and Twenty Years of Kidslik Haze – so it’s not just a book full of patterns but also some good reading and inspiration too.
Kidsilk Haze Celebration
This year Rowan is celebrating 20 years of Kidsilk Haze. If you are a fan of this yarn, like many knitters and crocheters, you will be very pleased with this section of Magazine 72 as it includes 24 designs using Kidsilk Haze. And just to make sure you can knit one of these designs in your favourite colour Rowan has introduced 39 new shades!
My top picks from the Kidsilk Haze collection are…
As a supplement to the new Kidsilk Haze patterns, the Rowan team has been reminiscing and taking a look back through the Kidsilk Haze archive. In the section, Twenty Years of Kidsilk Haze they share some of their personal favourites. My top pick from this section would have to be the design Fancy, by Erica Knight – I just love that pretty all-over lace pattern.
All the designs featured in Twenty Years of Kidsilk Haze will be available as digital downloads from Rowan.
Texture in Nature
Texture in Nature celebrates and champions Rowan Moordale, a truly British yarn combining 70% British wool and 30% alpaca. This makes it a robust yarn but also soft to the touch and comes in 18 shades of neutrals and brights.
Choose from 9 patterns designed by Lisa Richardson. My top picks from Texture in Nature are…
