Shortly after becoming a Rowan Ambassador I received a box of yarn related goodies from Rowan.  I was initially drawn to a lovely squidgy ball of Kidsilk Haze Glamour in Smoke and wanted to cast on something with it straight away. What can you make with one ball of yarn, 162m in length? I searched around and found a free pattern on the Rowan website which includes intructions for a beautiful lace cravat, a scarf or a throw, (right) designed by Louisa Harding. The free download is part of the launch of Rowan’s new yarn Kidsilk Haze Glamour (super kid mohair and silk) and I could easily make the cravat or scarf. However, as I am still knitting my Hanne inspired cardigan I left the question swirling around in my brain. But then, a few days later, I went to my stash and pulled out all the balls and left over yarn that I could find in Kidsilk Haze: some cream, some dewberry and a cerise colour. I also came across 2 unused balls of Kidsilk Aura (although now discontinued) in a lovely cream colour. Maybe I could design something using up all my Kidsilk Haze and Aura stash with the Kidsilk Haze Glamour yarn?

I did consider using a pattern from one of Rowan’s collections: the Mini Collection – Kidsilk Haze Stripe and making up my own ‘stripe’ of different creams and smoke. One of the patterns, Ruby (left), is a beautiful loose fitting cardigan desiged by Marie Wallin. It is worked in one piece and I might just have enough yarn from my stash to complete it.

Also in my Rowan goodie box was a ball of All Seasons Chunky in Pebble; a colour that went well with all the cream Kidsilk Hazes and Aura but the texture and yarn weight was so very different. But this doesn’t matter, does it?

So, in my mind at the moment I have a picture of a bolero or short sleeved cardigan made up in stripes and different textural stitches using Kidsilk Haze, Kidsilk Haze Glamour, Kidsilk Aura, All Seasons Chunky, and anything else I can find in my stash! I’ll keep you posted to see if this combination is at all possible!
