Regular readers of Rowan Magazine will know that it is an exceptional pattern magazine of superior quality, beautifully photographed in picturesque surroundings. For this issue the design team travelled to Tuscany in Italy to use the breathtaking countryside and incredible architecture as a setting for ‘Daydream’ and ‘Relic’, the titles of the stories which are a  feature of every magazine.

Here’s a few of my favourites from ‘Daydream’………

Crochet Along with Lisa Richardson

Cal ImageAs promised here are the details about the Crochet Along which starts on March 25 with the release of the first pattern. The project has several options for you to choose from: a baby blanket, a ladies shawl, a small cushion and a scarf, all using the new Summerlite 4ply yarn. So you can make something to suit your pocket and your time.

For their first crochet along, Rowan have chosen to work with their popular in-house designer Lisa Richardson and here’s what they have to say about Lisa:

“Inspired by shape and texture, Lisa’s designs showcase interesting stitch details, unique garment structure and stylish techniques with a classically understated, yet innovative brilliance.”

If you are a beginner crocheter or need to brush up on your skills ……which is why I am doing it as I want to make Anemone from Marie Wallin’s crochet design book Filigree…..

Anemonethere are videos on the Rowan YouTube Channel which should help you through every week to complete each pattern. To join in the fun download the patterns from Knitrowan and share your progress here by leaving a comment below or via my Contact Me page or  on my What Colours Make Facebook page, or ask for help by posting your comments and photo’s on Ravelry and Rowan’s Facebook page.

At the end of the crochet along Rowan will be launching a competition in June 2015, with some fantastic prizes. More details to follow.

Magazine 57 Giveaway

So, I have one copy of Rowan Knitting and Crochet Magazine Number 57 to giveaway to one of my lovely subscribers and here’s what you have to do to enter. Please send me a photo of something you have knitted or crocheted in a Rowan yarn stating the name of the design and the yarn you used. It does not have to be a Rowan design….just a Rowan yarn. You do not have to be wearing the garment as I know some people do not like to be photographed. Send the photo to me by going to my Contact Me page and filling in the form. If you are unable to attach your image I will get back to you and help you submit your photo. Alternatively you can go to my Facebook page What Colours Make and leave a comment and photo at the top of the page where it says “What have you been up to?” Your post will then appear on the left under “Posts to Page” and while you are there take a look around and please “Like” my page if you like it!
