Today sees the launch of the Rowan Autumn/Winter season 2013, and I’m giving away my brand new copy of the latest Rowan Knitting and Crochet Magazine 54. So, wherever you are in the world, read on and I’ll tell how you can win……
If you have ever looked inside one of Rowan’s Magazines before you will know that they are not your ordinary pattern books…….they are beautiful works of art! This season’s copy is no different with stunning photographs taken in the historic setting of Haddon Hall, Derbyshire and a rustic working farmhouse in Mid Wales during a cold, wet and grey November! These two locations are the perfect backdrop to show off the latest design collections from Rowan as many catwalk designers have drawn inspiration for their collections from historic references such as the Baroque but also the handicraft textiles of Eastern Europe. Head Rowan designer, Marie Wallin, has taken the lead from these designers and, using the strong fashion trends that they have forseen, working them into three distinctive stories:
1. Romancing
The mood of this collection is “dark but romantic” containing colour work, lace knitting and texture. Here’s my three favourites out of a total of thirteen designs…………

Silla designed by Jennie Atkinson
Corelli designed by Jennie Atkinson
2. Folk
“Knitted in beautiful autumnal colours influenced by the British countryside, the Folk collection is inspired by the traditional patterning of eastern European folk art.” Here’s three from a collection of fourteen designs including four men’s knitting patterns……………….
3. Essentials
Promoting “key shapes of the season in a simpler and more accessible way.” Three of my favourites from twelve designs in total……………………..
